There were many who thought that Capcom would end up announcing Dragon’s Dogma 2 at its recent showcase, but it just wasn’t to be- though many still haven’t give up hope. A celebration livestream for the 10th anniversary of the original Dragon’s Dogma was announced at the event and is scheduled for less than a couple of hours from now, and the hope for quite a few fans is that that is where the sequel will be announced.
And some recent updates made to the official Dragon’s Dogma website might be pointing to just that. As recently spotted by a Reddit user, new pre-order URLs were spotted on the website, and considering the fact that there’s nothing related to Dragon’s Dogma that’s currently officially confirmed to be releasing in the future and is, as such, up for pre-order, it does raise an eyebrow.
Pre-order links were also spotted in the about section of the game’s official YouTube channel. Previously, the channel linked to a purchase page for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. All of these links have been taken down by now, but there’s at least some likelihood that Capcom has something cooking up that it may have accidentally spilled the beans on early.
A sequel to Dragon’s Dogma has been in demand for years, and has also been in in the rumour mill for some time, having been mentioned in both, Capcom’s ransomware leak in 2020 and the GeForce Now leak last year. In May last year, it was also claimed by leaker that the RPG sequel was being built on the RE Engine, much like most Capcom releases now.
Interestingly, Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon’s Dogma director Hideaki Itsuno said back in 2019 that he would love to make a Dragon’s Dogma 2, and that he already had quite few ideas for a sequel.
