Later this year, we will once again step into the world of Dungeons and Dragons with the revival of the Dark Alliance franchise. The new game has had some…interesting marketing, to say the least, filled with heavy metal alongside lots of action. The game is also rooted firmly in its fantasy roots, and the new rating from the ESRB shows that.
The game was recently rated by the ESRB, which you can read in full below or in the link here. There is nothing surprising here, but it does give you an idea of the many creatures you’ll find yourself up against. In the description there is mention of trolls, goblins, skeletons, skeletal mages and verbeeg, as well as description for the types of attacks you have that matches up with the three character with sword, bow and hammer. There’s also some lovely details, such as a corpse getting its head loped off and thrown into a pot.
“This is an action role-playing game in which players control several classes of fantasy characters as they search for a magical shard. From a third-person perspective, players use axes, swords, arrows, and hammers to defeat Dungeons-and-Dragons-inspired creatures (e.g., trolls, goblins, skeletal mages, verbeeg). The melee-style combat is highlighted by cries of pain, impact sounds, and blood-splatter effects. Cutscenes sometimes depict instances of blood and gore: mutilated, dismembered, decapitated dwarves hanging from a ceiling; a corpse getting its head chopped off and tossed into a pot; a large soup spoon holding severed heads. Some levels depict corpses impaled on spikes (sometimes with blood) or bodies hanging from nooses. The words “sh*t” and “a*shole” appear in the dialogue.”
Dungeons And Dragons: Dark Alliance will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC on June 25th. You can check out wild looking boss fight within the game through here.
