Dying Light 2 Planned As Cross-Gen Title, Says Developer

The zombie survival game seems headed for the next generation of consoles.

Dying Light 2 is the next major title from Techland, and it’s one that they are planning to swing for the fences on. It’s an ambitious title that is planning to give players massive amounts of choice and scope that few games do or can. Whether or not it will land remains to be seen, but it also seems it won’t just be contained to this generation of consoles per the game’s Chief Technology Officer.

In a long reaching interview from Wccftech, members of the development team talked about a variety of different topics from the scope of the world to how you’ll interact with the NPCs. When Paweł Rohleder was asked the direct question of whether the game would be crossgen, he answered in a surprisingly candid and direct way.

“Techland always has an eye on the latest new toys! To be more specific — yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title.”

While it’s not an explicit confirmation, it’s seems that the plan in the near future is definitely for the game to launch on next generation hardware, most likely both the PlayStation 5 and next Xbox.

Dying Light 2 will release on current gen consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, specifically) and PC Spring of 2020. You can check out all the news, upcoming and up to date, here. And if you can’t wait for your zombie fix, well, there’s still content planned for the original game, so keep your eyes out for that.
