EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Edition Sold Over 6.8 Million Units

EA confirms it sold 6.8 million units of the game for its one-week early access period, which is up 35% from last year's FIFA 23.

The FIFA franchise never failed to be a commercially lucrative one for EA, and that hasn’t changed even though its name has. EA Sports FC 24 launched worldwide last week, but was available for a week before that, with owners of its Ultimate Edition being granted early access.

As reported by the Financial Times, EA has announced that it sold 6.8 million copies of EA Sports FC 24 for its early access period, which is 35% higher than the early access period sales for last year’s FIFA 23. It’s worth noting that during that time, the game was also available for a 10-hour trial period to subscribers of EA Play (and, by extension, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate), so the number of players it accumulated prior to its global release would be higher than the sales it garnered.

EA Sports FC 24 also debuted on top of last week’s physical UK retail charts. Even though its physical launch sales were lower than those of FIFA 23, it debuted as the region’s second-biggest physical launch of 2023, behind only The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

In our review of EA Sports FC 24, we gave it a score of 6/10, saying, “The on-pitch gameplay in FC 24 remains as fun as ever, but its failure to make any real, meaningful changes is a real disappointment, especially because almost none of the few changes it does make come anywhere close to sticking the landing.” Read the full review through here.

EA Sports FC 24 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
