FromSoftware’s Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is now available for players worldwide, adding massive amounts of challenging new content to push experienced players. However, it’s also pushed the open-world action RPG to 589,948 concurrent players (at the time of writing) on Steam for its launch day. Though it’s far from the title’s lifetime record, this is still very impressive for an expansion, especially on a weekday.
Shadow of the Erdtree is a paid expansion for Elden Ring and the developer’s largest yet, introducing a new region in the Realm of Shadow. Players pursue Miquella the Kind throughout, venturing to new Legacy Dungeons, tackling powerful bosses, and discovering new weapons. Accessing the expansion requires slaying Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, in the base game, so new players have their work cut out.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. It’s become the highest-rated expansion of all time on Metacritic – check out our review, where we gave it a 10 out of 10.
