Epic Games Store Refund Policy Now Matches Steam’s; (Some) Local Currencies Supported

The axiom “competition is good” being demonstrated in action.

The Epic Games Store has been extremely aggressive in terms of how it has been soliciting exclusives to attract users to it over Steam, but in terms of actual features and consumer friendliness, it hasn’t yet even come close to matching Valve’s storefront. Forget ancillary features like achievements and the Steam Workshop, even basic things like local currencies are not yet supported by the store.

Or well, that was true until today. Taking today on Twitter, Sergey Galyonkin, originally known for his breakthrough site SteamSpy, and now working with Epic on the Epic Games Store, confirmed that the store now supports local currencies for 30 regions (130 countries in total), with Epic looking to add more over time.

The Epic Games Store has also amended its refund policy to match Valve’s on Steam—put simply, any game can be refunded within 14 days of purchase, as long as you have less than 2 hours logged on it. This, again, is a good thing for customers, and highlights that Epic is serious about competing with Steam (it’s things like the refund policy and local currency support where other PC storefronts fall behind).
