Evolve New Details: Single Player Experience, Classes, Creature Tactics

Turtle Rock's upcoming shooter unveiled.

Turtle Rock Studios’ Evolve was finally revealed today via Game Informer’s latest cover reveal, and thanks to CVG, some more details have been ascertained about the upcoming multiplayer, 4 vs. 1 shooter. The first being that it’s not quite a multiplayer-only experience – it seems Turtle Rock will be incorporating a single-player experience of some sort but won’t talk about it just yet.

As for the hunters that will be taking on the main monster, there will be four classes: Assault, Medic, Support and Trapper. Each will have their own item and skill trees, and rely on unlimited ammo. However, you can only be killed and revived three times before you’re out of the game.

The main story revolves around colonists fighting off large hostiles called Shear for settlement purposes. The Shear in question is capable of feeding off the AI animals in order to become stronger, and players will need to track it through “very lush and large” environments. This can be done via footprints and other hints. Along with the default Hunt experience, where the creature will also have objectives, there will be other modes available for play.

Finally, if you play Evolve with less than four players, you’ll be able to have AI players take part. Players will be able to switch between the various characters whenever possible. As of now, Evolve has been announced for PS4, Xbox One and PC but no release date has been finalized. Stay tuned for more details.
