According to a statement issued by Codemasters, there will not be an online pass system in their upcoming releases, F1 2013, and F1 2013: Classic Edition. The online pass in previous Codemasters games was a system in which players would enter a VIP passcode in order to have access to multiplayer mode.
In previous game releases, the online pass has been a source of some frustration and controversy amongst gamers, with frequent instances of glitching and passcode theft.
“We recently reviewed the VIP Pass activation system and took the decision not to include it in either F1 2013 and F1 2013: Classic Edition,” said a spokesperson for Codemasters.
“Players will not be required to activate multiplayer functionality via a VIP Pass code and we have no plans to replace the pass with an alternative paid-for activation system in the game when it launches this October.”
Both versions of the upcoming installment in the F1 series will be released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 4th.
Are you glad that you no longer have to deal with the online pass system?
