Now that Fallout 4 has officially hit the Xbox One and the PS4, it appears that there are some people who believe Bethesda is close to bringing an HD remake of Fallout 3 to the current generation consoles. It should be pointed out that the report which claims the game is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One is based mostly on conjecture, though it appears it’s at least found some things to back up its assertions.
IGN Germany was the first to start sniffing around this story and it focuses on the fact that Fallout 3 has been banned in Germany for quite some time. Bethesda has been working to get the ban pulled and the publisher has said, it will make it clear why it is trying to get the game unbanned in the next couple of weeks. To be clear, by all accounts, getting a game to be approved by the German authority after it has been “blacklisted” isn’t easy. Bethesda is basically taking extraordinary measures in order to try and get Fallout 3 approved. IGN Germany stated that Bethesda will reveal why they have worked so hard to remove the ban and that an update will be posted in a couple of weeks. So does this mean that the game is getting a re-release?
Since the release of Fallout 4, quite a few of the other games in the franchise have been getting more popular again. This would certainly be one of the reasons why an HD remake, especially for the PS4 would be a good idea. It would actually make less sense for the Xbox One, considering the game is already on offer via the consoles’ backwards compatibility feature.
