Fallout 4 has been out for quite some time, but it’s pretty clear that it took as long as it did to hit retail shelves because the fans of the series demand high quality. A new report from IGN shows that there were two versions of Fallout 3 before the developers arrived at the final product.
Fergus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment gave a recent interview where he talked about the two versions that were canceled. The first version coded-named Project “Van Buren” Fallout 3 project. The other version of Fallout 3 turned out to be 2000’s Icewind Dale. According to the developer, the publisher was running into some financial problems and this eventually led to what would have been Fallout 3 into the aforementioned Icewind Dale.
Turns out things could have been very different for the series if the developers opted for the original ideas.
