Fallout 4 Console Mods Will Be Extremely Easy To Install

It's going to be streamlined.

Fallout 4 is going to break new ground when the game gets mods not just for the PC version, but for the console versions as well. Todd Howard took the stage at Microsoft’s E3 presentation earlier this year to confirm that the Xbox One version of the game would be getting mod functionality.

Of course, mods on PC are possible because it is possible for players to go deep into the settings and configurations of the game, and change them and tweak them, something that mods take advantage of; this is not possible on consoles, which are closed systems. So how exactly would the mod functionality work for the console versions of the game?

It’s going to be very easy, Bethesda confirmed. “We do it in a way that’s easy,” Pete Hines said in a launch interview for the game. “I get asked this a lot on social media and Twitter. This is not about, ‘You have to have a PC and you have to do it yourself.’ The idea is you go to play the game and there’s a menu option and you click on it and there’s just a bunch of stuff for you to download. You click on the stuff you want and you start playing the game with these new mods. We want it to be a really streamlined, fun experience.”

So, it sounds like it will be easy, quite like how DLC works. Of course, this also implies that the full wealth of mods that are available for the PC version of the game may not necessarily make it over to the PS4 or Xbox One- the exact specifics still remain to be seen.

Fallout 4 is out now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The PC and Xbox One versions of the games are the ones that are currently confirmed to be getting mod functionality.
