Bethesda showed off Fallout 4 today at their first ever E3 press conference, as expected, and they confirmed that the main character will indeed be voiced, a first for the series, and indeed, for any Bethesda games- all Bethesda games so far have had silent protagonists.
The silent protagonist will also feature dynamic dialog, which is context sensitive, and you will be no longer locked into a conversation. In Howard’s words, ‘you are free to walk away any time, if you want, or punch him in the face.’ Also alongside all of this, we got our first look at the dog in game. The dog will be your companion, and you can direct him and give him commands on the fly, simply by pointing at environmental cues, and he will do what you want him to do.
Howard also confirmed that the story of the game culminates in the ruins of downtown Boston, showing us what post-fallout Boston 200 years from now would look like.
Fallout 4 is due out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Stay tuned.
