Fallout 4 Mods Coming to PS4 When Beta Starts, Bethesda Doesn’t Hate PS4

Everyone calm down, mods are coming, and soon.

It’s hard to deny that Bethesda have a very special and close relationship with Microsoft and Xbox. Originally, they chose to put their games on Xbox over PlayStation- then last generation, when they finally started putting out PlayStation versions of their games, they were unoptimized and buggy (even more so than Bethesda games usually are), and absolute disasters that were in an essentially unplayable state for all players eventually.

This generation, the PS4 being a stronger and easier platform to develop for than Xbox, Bethesda’s Fallout 4 at least runs better on PS4 than it does on Xbox One- but with Bethesda choosing to partner with Microsoft for the game, and collaborating with them on bringing mods from the PC version to the Xbox One version first, it’s hard to shake off the feeling that Bethesda just have a preference for Xbox when it comes to consoles.

However, speaking on Twitter, Bethesda’s Pete Hines cleared the air up about that today- for multiple PS4 owners who feel like they are being left out, especially with mods not coming to PS4 for a while, he clarified that the company doesn’t hate the PS4, and that mods would be coming to the console soon, as soon as the beta starts, also, for good measure, drawing a distinction between officially supported mods via the Creation Kit, and unofficial mods that have percolated for the game so far.

I suppose PS4 owners will be happy to know that their console isn’t hated(?) by Bethesda. More sensible people are probably just happier to get some concrete information about the incoming mods, on the other hand.
