Bethesda confirmed that they will be supporting virtual reality in a big way. Fallout 4 will be coming to the HTC Vive next year, adding an entirely new level of immersion to an open world first person RPG that was already incredibly immersive to begin with. “If you thought playing Fallout 4 in Survival Mode was intense, you ain’t seen nothing yet,” Bethesda’s Pete Hines joked on stage.
Fallout 4 VR will be playable at the E3 showfloor this year. Hines also confirmed that DOOM will be playable on the showfloor in VR for attendees as well. Going forward, Bethesda will continue to be a pioneer for VR, Hines confirmed, bringing its AAA games to high end VR platforms.
This is big news, because so far, AAA publishers have definitely shied away from any concrete, meaningful support for VR- Bethesda could be blazing a trail here. And I know I’ve been critical of Fallout 4 in the past, but I have a feeling that the game will be pretty damn awesome in virtual reality.
