Fallout 76’s Stealth Mode Causes Players to Disappear From Minimap

Set ambushes or avoid combat altogether in the online title.

Bethesda Game Studios’ Fallout 76 marks an interesting step forward for the franchise by being completely online. While extensive conversations with NPCs aren’t really there anymore, several aspects like stealth still matter.

On Twitter, project lead Jeff Gardiner responded to a query about the game’s sneak perks and detection in general. He replied that crouching goes into stealth mode, much like it does in previous games. However, in Fallout 76, it will cause the player’s marker to disappear from the minimap, thus ensuring other players can’t see you.

Not only is this useful for setting up ambushes but players can also avoid PvP battles altogether if they so wish. Bethesda does have systems in place to prevent griefing, such as not being able to kill the same player again and again.

Fallout 76 will be releasing on November 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The studio affirmed its promise to deliver free DLC and updates over the next few years. Microtransactions will of course help to fund that content but will remain cosmetic and earnable in game.
