Far Cry 5 Crosses 30 Million Players

It recently added support for current-gen consoles, with 60 FPS and higher resolutions supported on Xbox Series X and PS5.

After its 60 FPS patch for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 has hit a new milestone with over 30 million players.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the open-world first-person shooter is available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Game Pass. A free weekend also took place from March 23rd to 27th, so plenty of current-gen players probably checked it out. The milestone doesn’t necessarily translate to the same number of sales, but it’s still worth celebrating.

Far Cry 5 was released in March 2018 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It was the franchise’s fastest-selling game, with launch sales crossing $310 million. Check out our review for more details.

As for the future, Ubisoft is rumored to be working on two new Far Cry titles – a single-player-focused Far Cry 7 and a multiplayer-only title codenamed Project Maverick. The latter is reportedly an exaction shooter set in Alaska. Both are reportedly targeting Fall 2025 for release, so it’ll be a while before we learn more.
