Ubisoft has announced that it will be celebrating the fifth anniversary of the release of Far Cry 5 with an update to the game. While details about the update have not yet been revealed, the company referred to it including a “highly requested feature for next-gen consoles.”
The company took to the official Far Cry Twitter account for the announcement, and while it hasn’t revealed any details about what the update might entail, the announcement indicates that it will be a full current-gen upgrade for Far Cry 5 to make use of features on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Far Cry 5 was originally released back in March 2018. The game puts players in the shoes of a sheriff’s deputy that is sent to Hope County, Montana to apprehend cult leader Joseph Seed. After the initial attempt of the arrest goes wrong, the player then has to go through other members of Seed’s cult as they fight their way up the ranks.
Far Cry 5 was released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game was followed up by a direct sequel dubbed Far Cry: New Dawn. For more details, check out our review of the original release of Far Cry 5.
