With its cover art leaked prior to The Game Awards 2018, Far Cry: New Dawn intrigued us from the get-go. As the recent teaser indicated, it takes place after the nuclear ending of Far Cry 5. However, a new six minute long trailer from Ubisoft with alpha gameplay provided some more context on what’s going on and what you’ll be doing during the post-apocalypse.
As it turns out, New Dawn is set 17 years after Far Cry 5. The world was a wasteland, but as time passed, greenery and rare animals have begun to roam the land. Players will control a completely new protagonist who’s come to Hope County for their own reasons and may encounter familiar faces from the previous game. Unfortunately, one of those won’t be Boomer, your faithful canine who’s confirmed to have passed.
The good news is that our hero has a new companion in the form of Timber, who can ride with you in vehicles. Far Cry New Dawn will look to emphasize on the more extreme possibilities of the post-apocalyptic future, like the survival tendencies of the Highwaymen and their leaders, The Twins. Far Cry New Dawn is out on February 15th, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
