Looks like the mods on consoles love is spreading- the latest game to have mods on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be the upcoming Farming Simulator 17. Publisher Giants Software confirmed that it will test all mods internally and port them over to the consoles itself, to ensure that all of them meet “all of the necessary console requirements,” and potentially avoid a standoff like the one that Bethesda found itself in with Sony over the Fallout 4 modding issue.
“If PC players benefit from a larger quantity of mods, console players will be able to continuously enjoy new mods released regularly for free,” Thomas Frey of Giants said.
Whether or not the mods on PS4 are different from the ones on Xbox One, given that Sony have different policies regarding mods than Microsoft, remains to be seen. Chances are, however, that Giants will target the PS4 as the lowest common denominator (with the highest sales, incidentally), and have the same m0ds across it and Xbox One.
