Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Receives New Gameplay With Developer Commentary

Out on March 9th, the remaster of the 2008 horror classic features an improved camera and controls and cleaner, more detailed visuals.

After Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water saw a remaster last year for modern platforms, Koei Tecmo is readying a remaster of Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. To explain some of the changes made, remaster producer Yutaka Fukaya and director Makoto Shibata (who worked on the original) talk over some new gameplay. Check it out below.

Starting after Ruka, one of the protagonists picks up the piano scores in Rogetsu Hall, the duo discusses improvements to the camera and controls. A section centered on playing the piano had its controls revised to make it easier. The remastered visuals also make for a cleaner, more detailed presentation.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is out March 9th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. A Digital Deluxe Edition is available to pre-order and includes a costume set and digital art book. Head here for more details.
