The Japanese are fairly consistent in their taste for video games, if nothing else- so it should surprise no one that this week’s Famitsu Most Wanted chart for games largely has the exact same games as previous weeks- Final Fantasy 15, Persona 5, Dragon Quest 11, and Kingdom Hearts 3 seem to be the games that most Japanese gamers are looking forward to the most, and those indeed are fixtures in the charts.
This week’s chart sees Final Fantasy 15 reigning at the top, by an extremely slim margin- with 832 votes, it is marginally over the second ranked game in the list, which is Atlus’ Persona 5, with 798 votes. Over a hundred points separate Persona 5 from Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which is followed by the 3DS and PS4 versions of Dragon Quest 11 respectively. Kingdom Hearts 3 is all the way down in eighth place, with only 332 votes, and with Star Ocean 5 within touching distance of it.
For now, Final Fantasy 15’s continued top spot performance can be explained by the fact that the game’s release is almost here- the launch date will be announced later this week, and the game is widely expected to launch by this Fall. Persona 5, which is Final Fantasy 15′s biggest competitor, meanwhile, has no announced release date yet- and people are, as a result, probably more excited for what is more tangible.
