Final Fantasy 15 Total Sales Reach 7 Million; Developers Wish To Sell 2 Million on PC

This makes it one of the most successful Final Fantasy games of all time.

A lot was riding on Final Fantasy 15, a game that, after spending a decade in development, was going to be crucial in deciding how the future of the series would pan out. Thankfully, it seems like it has passed any tests Square Enix might have set for it internally- the game went on to be well received, most players at least liked it, and it went on to sell a whole lot.

On that last front, Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata revealed in an interview with 4Gamer (translation via Siliconera) that the game has now reached total shipments (retail+digital sales) of 7 million units worldwide; incredibly enough, this actually places it as one of the most successful games in the series, and it indicates very healthy legs for the title.

Tabata also confirmed that the goal is for the upcoming PC version of the game to sell 2 million, and for final sales of the title to cross 10 million (even though the game was profitable from day one)- which seem like heady goals, but so far, Final Fantasy 15 hasn’t had any trouble meeting lofty expectations.

Hopefully, all the effort put into the game continues to pay off.
