Final Fantasy 15 Uses Yebis 2 Engine for Real Time Computer and Optical Effects

A listing for Agni's Philosophy could also hint at other effects used in FF15.

Finally some new information on Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 15, though it’s mostly restricted to the technology the game utilizes. A quick look at the showcase titles for YEBIS 2, a post processing effects middleware which allows developers to add such effects as HDR rendering, reveals that FF15 utilizes the same.

The listing states that, “Beautiful natural light is represented as real-time computer generated effects by utilizing the optical effects of YEBIS 2.”

This was for the E3 2013 demo, which is labelled as a “tech demo”, so you can count on it being a part of the final game. This could also mean that we’ll see much more in the final release.

Under the listing for Agni’s Philosophy, which also uses YEBIS 2, it says, “Optical post effects such as motion blur and depth of field are applied to create photo-realistic graphics like live-action.” It’s highly likely that Final Fantasy 15 will also utilize bokeh depth of field, light blooms and glare in HDR. We’ll have to wait and see.
