Apparently, the PC version of Final Fantasy had some issues thanks to GameWorks HairWorks- these led to issues with LOD and to some stuttering in the game. They were discovered thanks to the game’s benchmaring tool, and reported on by DSO Gaming.
Now, it seems, Square Enix is aware of these issues, and will be addressing them ahead of the game’s final release in March. Speaking on Twitter, Square Enix said that the benchmark tool was only meant to be an approximation, and that the errors discovered by users via it will be resolved ahead of the game’s release on PC. They also confirmed that the final version will have still more graphical settings for users to tweak, more than the benchmarking tool allows for.
I mean, on one hand, good. On the other, I do have to wonder why you would put out a benchmarking tool that isn’t an accurate assessment of the final performance to begin with. Oh well, as long as the issues are fixed, right?
