Final Fantasy 16 Will Have New Game Plus and Hard Difficulty Mode

Upon completing the story once, players can carry over equipment, abilities, and levels into a new playthrough with tougher enemies.

Last July, Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that the title would have a Story Focus Mode and Wearable Assists to help less combat-savvy players. In new interview with 4Gamer, director Hiroshi Takai (translation via DeepL) has confirmed that there will be New Game Plus where players can carry over all their equipment and abilities into a new playthrough.

Your level also carries over, which you’re going to need since enemies are stronger as well. In addition to this, a higher level difficulty mode is also present. More details on this have yet to be revealed, but it should satisfy those who want a challenge.

Final Fantasy 16 is out in Summer 2023 for PS5. According to Takai, development is about 95 percent complete, and release date should be announced by the end of 2022.
