Final Fantasy 7 Remake Could be Headed to Steam – Rumour

Final Fantasy 7 Remake's SteamDC page has seen some recent activity, potentially indicating that the game's Epic Games Store exclusivity on PC could be coming to an end.

When Final Fantasy 7 Remake launched for PC in December last year, it was available exclusively via the Epic Games Store, though it seems its exclusivity to the storefront could soon be coming to an end.

The game has had a page on third party Steam-tracking site SteamDB for quite some time, but recently, it saw some activity, first receiving an update on June 2, and then a couple more today separated by a few hours. While not concrete evidence by any means, it might suggest that the game could soon be headed to Steam.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s PC version was on the receiving end of plenty of criticism when it launched for a number of issues, from its controversial pricing to its bevy of performance issues. It’ll be interesting to see if the game’s Steam release – if that is indeed happening – coincides with performance improvements.

Later today, Square will livestream its Final Fantasy 7 25th anniversary celebration, where this could be one of several announcements. A recent leak has suggested that Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 remaster could be announced for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC. Given what Square Enix said earlier this year, many will also be hoping that the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake gets unveiled.
