Square Enix has announced the worldwide shipments and digital sales for Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Within just three days of the game’s launch on April 10th, it’s managed to pass 3.5 million units in total. Not only that but digital sales are “exceptional” and continue to increase as per the publisher.
Given that estimated physical sales in Japan passed 700,000 units within launch week, these figures are hardly surprising. It also had a strong debut in the UK’s physical retail market despite launch numbers being half of Final Fantasy 15’s (which became available during the holiday season). All in all, it’s good news for the future of the franchise.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake, despite the name, is only part 1 of the entire story and covers up till the escape from Midgar. Square Enix hasn’t revealed when the next part can be expected but said that development would begin once the first releases. You can expect the current game on PC as well, most likely, especially with the timed exclusivity on PS4 ending next year.
