Nintendo’s next-gen console has been in the leaks a great deal recently. Allegedly set to be capable of outputting visuals that’ll be comparable to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S thanks to its implementation of DLSS, recent leaks have claimed that the Switch 2 will be seeing simultaneous releases for lot of major multiplatform games. However, if you were hoping that the console would also get a port of Final Fantasy 7 Remake – as some have speculated – it seems that won’t be the case.
That’s as per prominent Nintendo insider NateTheHate, who recently said in a post on the Famiboards forum that though Nintendo Switch 2 are Xbox ports for Final Fantasy 7 Remake aren’t totally out of the question, currently, Square Enix has no plans to bring the action RPG to non-PlayStation consoles.
“FF7 Remake is not a current plan,” the insider wrote. “Could it happen, eventually? Sure. Is it an active plan at this moment? No. A Switch 2 release exists in the same way an Xbox release does. IF Square wants to do it, they can & will; but no such plan exists at the present.”
Square Enix recently said that it would be bringing more of its games to Xbox consoles going forward, and since then, has confirmed the release of Octopath Traveler 2 for Microsoft’s platform in 2024. Whether Final Fantasy 7 Remake will end up joining the list remains to be seen, though surely, it’s something that the company will be considering in the coming months. Or that’s the hope, at any rate.
Meanwhile, recent leaks have claimed that Far Cry 7 and Monster Hunter 6 will both also get simultaneous Nintendo Switch 2 releases.
