Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Exceeds Expectations, Square-Enix Revises Forecasts

Net income is still a toss up however.

According to a new Square Enix financial report for the six month period ending on September 30th, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has exceeded the company’s expectations. As a result, it will be revising its forecasts for the full financial year from ¥59 billion and ¥63 billion to ¥61.7 billion ($626 million). Strong arcade performance in Japan has been named as another reason for the revised forecasts.

Square Enix also reported an operating loss of ¥2 billion ($20 million), but expects now expects to bring in operating profit of ¥4.7 billion ($48 million). It’s net income project has also been revised to be either flat or anywhere between ¥1.3 billion ($13 million) loss to a ¥2.6 billion profit ($26 million).

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is currently in development for PS4 and is a re-launch for the game which faced criticism with its initial release. Square Enix will also be releasing Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Thief, with a new Deus Ex title also expected.
