Recently dataminers discovered that Epic Games could possibly plan to roll out Annual Passes for Fortnite. Such passes would include all the Battle Bundles for upcoming Annual Passes along with some exclusive skins. However, Epic Games has now clarified that there are no plans to launch an Annual Pass. For now, that is.
Speaking to PC Gamer, the publisher stated, “We’ve seen discussions around a 2020 Annual Pass as a result of data mining the v11.30 build. Occasionally prototype features make it into our build that end up not being released. While the 2020 Annual Pass was considered, we have no plans to release it…unlike the Bao Bros.”
Seasonal Battle Passes have become the “in” thing now thanks to Fortnite with many games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Destiny 2 and so on adopting the model. An Annual Pass wouldn’t be all that weird, especially for the most dedicated of fans who want even more benefits on top of their purchases. It’s also possible that any V-Bucks earned could go towards the next Annual Pass, much like the current Battle Pass model.
In the meantime, stay tuned for more details from Fortnite as The Game Awards 2019 approaches. Last year saw the announcement and launch of The Block on the Battle Royale map. If nothing else, we may hear about the Epic Games Store which also launched last year at The Game Awards.
