Epic Games’ grand Battle Royale mode for Fortnite has proven to be extremely successful. The free to play mode saw 3.7 million players on October 8th with a peak count of 525,000 players. Keep in mind that the mode has been available since September 26th across PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The current figures take all these platforms into account along with regions like North America, Europe and Oceania. Considering that Xbox One and PS4 players don’t have a Battle Royale experience like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds just yet, this popularity makes sense. Then again, Fortnite itself has been doing extremely well since launch with 7 million registered players in total.
Sure these numbers don’t quite compare to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds which is only available on a single platform but it does indicate a successful move on Epic Games’ part. Whether that will assuage Bluehole’s issue with Fortnite: Battle Royale as a whole remains to be seen.
