From Software released Deracine for the PlayStation VR in November, with Metal Wolf Chaos XD and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice releasing in 2019. On top of this, other unannounced projects are also currently in development. This is according to an interview that president Hidetaka Miyazaki had with 4Gamer.net.
Miyazaki referred back to the “3.5” product lines from an interview in 2016, which consisted of Deracine (0.5), Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (1.0) and unannounced titles (2.0). When asked if two unannounced games were in development, Miyazaki confirmed the same. “While it isn’t the time to discuss details, they’re both [FromSoftware]-esque games. We’ll need a little more time, but we’ll be able to tell everyone more about them once they take shape.”
The Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne director also made sure to mention that Dark Souls Remastered and Metal Wolf Chaos XD were not included in the 3.5 plan. Referring to the titles as “[FromSoftware]-esque games” is interesting – a game like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice originally began development as Tenchu sequel before morphing into a stealth action hybrid with Souls-like combat. What could the developer have next up its sleeve? Hopefully we’ll find out in the new year.
In the meantime, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is out on March 22nd, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
