Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Is Coming to PC, Will Feature DX12 Support And 4K

Gears of War releases on PC... again.

Gears of War is an Xbox exclusive franchise, but the original title also came to PCs back in 2006-07. Now, the remake of that game, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, will also be coming to Windows 10 PCs later this year, Microsoft confirmed at the PC Game Show at E3 just now. Xbox One controller and keyboard/mice control schemes will all be supported.

Speaking about the game, and how it’s an entirely rebuilt modernization of the original game, The Coalition confirmed that multiple new multiplayer game modes will be coming to the Ultimate Edition, including new game modes from later games in the Gears of War series, on the multiplayer side.

Essentially, don’t think of Gears of War Ultimate Edition as a remaster as much as a remake- the idea is to have it be as relevant today as it was back when it first released in 2006, and that means there need to be some updates made to the core game design.

Microsoft wouldn’t comment on whether or not Gears of War 4 would be coming to PC soon, though they did ask us to stay tuned. It probably will be, at this rate.
