Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima, its biggest game yet and one of the last high-profile exclusives for PS4, has gone gold. The developer announced the news on Twitter, stating that it was the “culmination of years of hard work from our team.” Going “gold” means that principle production has wrapped and the game is currently going into production for physical copies and certification.
Ghost of Tsushima takes place in the year 1274. The Island of Tsushima is struggling against the first Mongol invasion, with samurai Jin Sakai and his clan doing their best. Once his clan is wiped out, however, Jin adopts the way of the Ghost and takes to ambushing and attacking the Mongols from the shadows.
The story thus sees players traveling through the island, attempting to liberate it, while Jin struggles with his code as a samurai. The world is massive and Sucker Punch has promised over 40 to 50 hours of gameplay from the story (with some side missions thrown in). Ghost of Tsushima is out on July 17th for PS4. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
