God of War Ragnarok State of Play in May Would be “Too Soon” – Insider

SIE Santa Monica's highly anticipated sequel is out later this year for PS4 and PS5 but it may be some time before new gameplay is revealed.

PlayStation has had some major heavy-hitters this year, from Gran Turismo 7 to Horizon Forbidden West. But arguably its biggest exclusive is God of War Ragnarok, which is releasing this year. Unfortunately, those hoping to catch a glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel this month may be a little disappointed.

In a Resetera, verified insider Ashhong responded, “Too soon, last I checked” to an unofficial tweet about State of Play for the sequel on May 27th. This lines up with what creative director Cory Balrog said last month about it “just not ready to be shown.” However, animation director Bruno Velazquez recently reassured fans that God of War Ragnarok is still slated to launch this year.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier also noted in a Reddit thread in February that the game was not going to be delayed to 2023. It’s currently in development for PS4 and PS5 so stay tuned to an official release date announcements – hopefully some new gameplay – in the coming months.
