God of War Ragnarok is the only major upcoming first party PlayStation exclusive for the rest of 2022 that is officially confirmed to be launching sometime this year, but given the fact that it’s been months since we last got a update for it, there is some concern about whether it’ll be able to hit that window, especially since pretty much every game these days looks to be in danger of being delayed.

Developer SIE Santa Monica Studio, however, seems confident that that won’t happen. Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog, director of 2018’s God of War, recently shared a message in which he said that the developer isn’t yet ready to show more of God of War Ragnarokwith no further updates shared on the game’s launch window.

Shortly afterward, however, Bruno Velazquez – animation director at SIE Santa Monica Studio – took to Twitter and very clearly said that the game isn’t going to be delayed into 2023, saying, “Ragnarok is coming this year.”

This isn’t the first time SIE Santa Monica Studio has provided similar assurances. As recently as less than a month ago, the developer provided similar assurances. Of course, plans can always change, and nothing is ever set a hundred percent in stone where game releases are concerned, but it definitely seems like the upcoming action-adventure sequel’s developers are confident of getting it out this year.

Whenever God of War Ragnarok launches, it will be available on PS5 and PS4.
