To say that God of War (2018) was an ambitious reimaging of the series would be a bit of an understatement, so it goes without saying that expectations from the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok are extremely high, not least because of the fact that it serves as the series’ Norse saga’s conclusion. And while it will, of course, be building on its predecessor’s strengths with several new ideas of its own, especially with a new director in charge, it’ll also be bringing back various thing from the previous game that worked out well.
One of those things is the one shot camera, which God of War (2018) introduced. Ragnarok’s narrative director Matt Sophos has confirmed that the sequel will be another one-shot game, with the entirety of the experience being a single unbroken short from beginning to end, just like its predecessor. Of course, it’s not the only upcoming game to be attempting this- the Dead Space remake is also going to be a one-shot experience.
God of War: Ragnarok launches for PS5 and PS4 in 2022.
