Guerrilla is in full hype mode for its upcoming PlayStation 4 launch game, Killzone: Shadow Fall. After revealing some details for the game’s multiplayer mode a few days ago, they have now unveiled the existence of the ‘Black Hand,’ a mysterious faction that was hinted at in the game’s announcement trailer, but never detailed much.
Guerrilla explains that in Killzone: Shadow Fall, the Black Hand are an emerging threat from the Helghan Sector, a group of radicals and zealots. The extremist movement has its roots in the destruction of Helghan in Killzone 3; like all extremists, they’ve sworn revenge by violence against Vekta.
The Black Hand will, predictably, try to force a return to an all out war situation, although unlike the previous games, Helghan itself (now fashioned New Helghan) does not want any more war with Vetka.
The Black Hand therefore resorts to guerrilla warfare, subterfuge, and terrorism, leading to a new form of warfare in the Killzone universe that eerily mirrors the situation in our own, real modern day world.
Killzone: Shadow Fall releases for the PlayStation 4 on November 15. Stay tuned for more coverage.
