NCsoft and ArenaNet have announced that Guild Wars 2, their highly successful MMO, will also feature Mac OS X support down the line. A beta version for Mac is now available for anyone who purchases the full game.
Unlike other betas, the Guild Wars 2 Mac beta is apparently connected to live servers allowing both PC and Mac users to play together. Users can access the Mac beta client through the account management website after activating their game code.
To deliver on it’s promise of optimum Mac support, ArenaNet is partnering with TransGaming “whose revolutionary Cider technology dynamically translates between operating environments”. This approach will translate to future updates of the game will being simultaneously available for Windows and Mac.
For those who missed it, Guild Wars 2 has been in development for a long time. It’s since been vindicated when it had one of the most successful launches in this year, and a record launch for MMOs. Now Mac and PC gamers can play together in harmony, experiencing the game together as it was meant to be played.
