Guillermo del Toro “Dying to Know” About Death Stranding

The famous director remarks that he has "no clues" about the game and wants to know more himself.

Even though he’s a character in the game and closely associated with director Hideo Kojima since the days of Silent Hills/P.T., film director Guillermo del Toro admits that he has no idea what Death Stranding is about. In fact, in a recent Reddit AMA focused on promoting his film The Shape of Water, Guillermo was asked about Death Stranding and said he himself was “dying to know.”

“Kojima San scanned my body and face for the model over an entire day in Toronto. He needed it for the digital Avatar (and for blackmail, perhaps) and he then sent me the teaser you all saw. That’s it- He send me toys and gifts every few weeks but NO clues. I am dying to know,” said del Toro.

This is in line with a previous answer that del Toro gave many months ago when asked what the game was about. Whether del Toro is teasing fans or genuinely has no clue about Kojima’s game, we know that both will be present at The Game Awards 2017 on December 7th. If new information or even gameplay is to be revealed about Death Stranding, that will be the place to see it.

Death Stranding is currently in development for PS4 and PC. Sony will be publishing the game following Kojima’s split from Konami and establishment of Kojima Productions.
