Sony Online Entertainment’s John Smedley has once again taken to Twitter and Reddit and has started discussing some great details for the upcoming PC and PS4 zombie survival MMO H1Z1.
Smedley has revealed several new details. First and foremost, he has revealed that temperature variations will affect the way you pay the game, and that players will have to survive the cold. “The idea is to make temperature matter,” he said. “If it gets cold at night you need to keep warm and either find shelter or start a fire.”
He also discussed air drops, saying that players will be allowed to purchase food and water, but that there was “no way” they would be allowed access to weapons in a similar fashion. However, it’s not going to be that simple.
“Before you judge – it goes to a random location and is obvious to everyone in the area,” Smedley said. “Think of it like buying surprises for people in the game that if you’re lucky you can try and get yourselves. However, our real goal here is along the lines of The Hunger Games. A mad rush for supplies followed by a tense standoff. Basically think of it as instant chaos.”
When asked if zombies would react to air drops, Smedley said: “Oh hell yes they would. Good luck getting it alone.”
Smedley was also asked if there would be global inventories and safe zones in the game. He replied by saying: “Only if we want to allow the carebears to take up residence. That’s my way of saying hell no.”
