Half-Life: Alyx Might Eventually Come To PlayStation VR, As Per Valve

A PSVR version of the shooter hasn't been ruled out.

Half-Life is returning after prolonged hiatus, but it’s coming back as a VR exclusive, and though there are many who might have hoped that Valve might considering bringing the game to non-VR platforms as well, they’ve made it clear that Half-Life: Alyx cannot work without VR. So as far as VR platforms are concerned, does this mean Valve will be looking to hit as many of them as possible?

Though Half-Life: Alyx has only been announced as Valve Index title, there are many who are wondering if it will also launch on PlayStation VR, and while that’s something that hasn’t yet been announced, it might still end up happening. Speaking to Push SquareHalf-Life: Alyx designer Greg Coomer said that though Valve is “very focused on the initial release”, they still haven’t “ruled anything out”, suggesting that a PSVR port is something they might look into after the game’s initial launch.

“We believe Sony’s VR platform has been a huge success for the medium, and we assume that lots of Sony customers would love to experience this new chapter of Half-Life,” he added.

Half-Life: Alyx launches exclusively for SteamVR compatible PC-based VR headsets in March 2020. Valve have made it clear that this is the next big flagship instalment in the franchise, and that players can expect it to be about as long as Half-Life 2. Additionally, they’ve also suggested that they could make more games in the series after Alyx.
