Well, that didn’t take long. Shortly after rumors started flying that Halo 5: Guardians could eventually come to the PC, Microsoft made sure to tamp down those same rumors on Twitter saying the only platform the title was coming to was the Xbox One. The original problem started when the game’s development director Frank O’Connor told stated in a recent interview that Halo 5 coming to the PC is something that, “could appear on the PC. Nothing to announce at this point but it’s absolutely within the bounds of reason.”
As fans of a game series are want to do, it appears a large swath of them missed the part where O’Connor said there was “nothing to announce” and instead focused on “could appear” as being confirmation that it would appear on the PC. Aaron Greenberg, one of the bigwigs at Microsoft was asked on the social media site why the company would start thinking about bringing the game to the PC just days before it was due to launch on the Xbox One.
Greenberg responded that simply wasn’t true. He made it very clear there is exactly one platform people will be able to play this game on. “This is not true. Game is being made exclusively for Xbox One.” It seems pretty clear that O’Connor was talking well in the future, if at all and some people decided to run with the rumors. We can only hope that from here on out, that kind of hysteria will settle down now and just wait until Halo 5: Guardians does indeed launch on October 27, 2015 exclusively for the Xbox One.
