Halo: Campaign Evolved’s New 3rd Person Perspective Lets You Experience Missions “Like Never Before”

Thanks to a new Skull, you can finally see what Chief's shiny armor would look like while playing through The Silent Cartographer.

Halo Studios surprised us at the Xbox Games Showcase with its new trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved, highlighting the new Prologue missions with the fancy UE5-powered visuals. But that’s not all, as it has another surprise, one that long-time fans probably didn’t see coming: Third-person perspective.

Thanks to a new Skull called “Perspective,” you can now experience classic missions from a completely new point of view. Some pre-release gameplay from The Silent Cartographer mission looks pretty solid, and even if Sprint proves divisive, it’s nice seeing the animations from this new perspective. Other touches, like the glowing hue around Chief’s armor with an overshield, are also nice.

This should also address a criticism that modern Halo titles have faced for a while – the inability to see the different armor sets due to the first-person nature of gameplay. While Campaign Evolved doesn’t have an in-game store, you can unlock new skins for Chief to wear, and thanks to third-person, you can finally admire them in all their glory.

It launches on July 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC for $49.99. Premium Edition owners get five days of advanced access and the Alpha Armory Pack, which includes five skins, including one comprised entirely of Needler shards.
