Halo Infinite Takes Place After Halo 5, E3 Showcase Running In-Engine

"We still have a long way to go until we ship the game."

343 Industries has confirmed that the next big Halo title is called Halo Infinite. Along with shifting away from the numbers of previous games (while assuring us that this is the next Halo), the developer also revealed some interesting new tidbits in its recent Halo Waypoint blog post.

It was made clear that not only would Halo Infinite focus on Master Chief but that the story would take place after the events of Halo 5: Guardians. Furthermore, the E3 trailer showcased the potential of the new SlipSpace Engine but everything was, as you’d guess, running in-engine.

“We still have a long way to go until we ship the game, so things will certainly evolve between now and the release of Halo Infinite, though the engine demo is a clear indication of the direction we are heading with our next game and a great snapshot of where our tech is right now.”

So while the actual game may not look exactly like this, it could end up looking just as good, if not better. What is the story and what happened to Cortana’s quest to stop all war? What happened to Blue Team? How did Master Chief end up on Halo once again? We’ll have to wait a while for those answers.
