Halo Wars 2 Won’t Support Cross-Platform Play

Windows 10 users can't play against (or with) Xbox One users.

Even though The Creative Assembly’s Halo Wars 2 will support the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative when it releases on Xbox One and Windows 10 in 2017, it won’t sport cross-platform play.

343 Industries studio head Dan Ayoub told Eurogamer that, “Cross-play is something we were looking at early on in development. We’ve been in development since 2014. But as we looked at our timing and our design decisions, we focused on some different things that basically became Xbox Play Anywhere.”

It makes sense when you also consider that the keyboard and mouse are infinitely better for playing the controller. Co-op between both platforms would have been nice but them’s the breaks. At least with Xbox Play Anywhere, you can transfer progress and access the digital version of the game on both Xbox One and Windows 10 if you purchase it for one platform.

The beta for Halo Wars 2 is currently on-going and open for all. What are your thoughts on it? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.
