HELL is US Developer Details Investigations in New Gameplay, Teases “Countless Mysteries”

With no quest log or markers, Rémi must question people, gather information and ultimately explore the region to find his parents.

Rogue Factor offered a new look at HELL is US during the recent Nacon Connect, outlining the Investigation mechanic. The semi-open world action-adventure title does away with quest markers and logs to offer a more organic approach to exploration. Check it out below.

The story focuses on Rémi, a peacekeeper who goes AWOL to return to Hadea and find his parents. While a civil war has broken out, there are also creatures called the Hollow Walkers to deal with. Rémi has very few clues to work with at the start, and by questioning NPCs, noting down clues, and piecing things together, he can find the way forward.

For example, one person may know about the village of Jova, where Rémi’s father worked as a blacksmith. Upon arrival, he can talk to an orphan, Rebecca, and learn that his father may have left on an Organized Nations (ON) convoy. This involves going in the same direction as some ancient monuments.

Players can also indulge in side investigations and explore hidden areas separate from the main story. Creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête promises “countless mysteries” to discover with “clear and intuitive” steps for solving them.

HELL is US launches on September 4th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out some more extended gameplay here.
