As part of its fiscal year 2023 earnings release, Sony has finally confirmed sales for Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2. It’s sold 12 million units as of May 5th on PS5 and PC, after launching on February 8th for both platforms, as revealed in recently concluded conference call.
Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hiroki Totoki (via Gematsu) has confirmed that it surpassed God of War Ragnarok’s record within the same period. That makes it the fastest-selling PlayStation-published title in the company’s history. Unsurprisingly, it’s also SIE’s biggest PC launch to date.
Though the success is warranted, Helldivers 2 was under fire recently due to Sony mandating the linking of Steam accounts with PSN. It’s inconvenient for players in regions that don’t have the PlayStation Network, leading to Sony delisting the co-op shooter from the same before reversing course.
