After a long tenure at Konami, Hideo Kojima started from scratch following his acrimonious departure from the company, re-establishing Kojima Productions as an independent studio and developing a brand new IP in Death Stranding. And though the “indie developer” experience must have been hugely different for someone like Kojima compared to the smaller studios we usually associate the term with, it must have nonetheless been daunting to start from scratch.
In a new video interview uploaded by the official PlayStation YouTube channel, Kojima goes into what that experience was like. He talks about how he was able to get back to work and get back to creating games thanks to his connections in the industry, while also talking about his love for films and how that continued to influence and inspire him. It’s an interesting video, so take a look below.
It’s fair to say that it all worked out in the end. Death Stranding turned out great, to the point that Kojima is even already thinking about sequels.
Death Stranding is out now for PS4, and will be available on PC in Summer 2020. The game will receive an update some time this month to bring about a number of quality of life improvements. Read more on that through here.
