Now that Hitman 3 is out, the fine folks at Digital Foundry have done a detailed technical analysis of the game for everyone to dive into, and the results are impressive pretty much across the board. That said, one console – the Xbox Series X – does seem to have a leg up over all the others.
As per the report, the game runs at a native 4K resolution at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series X. While that frame rate is maintained on the PS5 as well, the resolution does take a bit of a hit, with the game running at 1800p on the console. On the Xbox Series S, meanwhile, the resolution is even lower (as you’d expect) at 1080p, though the frame rate is mostly maintained at 60 FPS.
Digital Foundry does mention that on the Xbox consoles, while the frame rate was mostly consistent at 60 FPS, it does fluctuate somewhat in the 50-60 FPS range in some particular areas in the Mendoza, Argentina level.
On the Xbox One X, the game hits a 1440p resolution, and the frame rate is capped at 30 FPS on all last-gen machines. All except the PS4 Pro, that is, which has a 1080p/60 FPS mode, called the “frame interpolated” option.
Hitman 3 is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia, and on Nintendo Switch as a cloud-exclusive release. You can read our review of the game through here. Heads up: we really liked it.
